Building High Performing Virtual Teams
What does it take to enhance virtual team performance?

OnPoint is launching a new study to identify the
barriers that hinder virtual team performance

IDEAS ONPOINT

Are you, or is your organization, facing a significant challenge—developing leaders, managing change, executing plans and strategic initiatives, engaging and retaining talent? Would you like to know how top-performing companies deal with these issues and what factors differentiate the best companies from those that are less successful?

Find out by joining our free email mailing list and request one of our reports related to your area of interest.

Purpose:  We are seeking virtual teams to participate in an exciting global research project investigating the effectiveness of virtual teams.  The population for this study is intact virtual teams, or teams whose members work together interdependently, are geographically dispersed and who do not regularly meet face-to-face.  In order to conduct this research, we will need access to one or more virtual teams within your organization.

Study population:  These findings will be shared with all participating organizations, in the form of an executive summary of the results.  In addition, we will make targeted recommendations (based on the specific findings from your teams) to help improve the effectiveness of your virtual teams.

Study methodology:  The primary method of data collection for this project will be an online inventory that assesses dimensions of virtual team performance.  This should take respondents approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.  In order to attain additional information on other research questions, we will conduct focus groups and interviews with team members and team leaders who are interested in participating.  Finally, where possible, we would like to collect additional performance data from a third party that is familiar with the team’s performance.   This will allow us to differentiate between the factors that facilitate successful virtual team performance.

How organizations will benefit:  These findings will be shared with all participating organizations, in the form of an executive summary of the results.  In addition, we will make targeted recommendations (based on the specific findings from your teams) to help improve the effectiveness of your virtual teams.
